Hilary Duff Survived Putting a Scorpion Down Her Pants

FOXNEWS.COM: LOS ANGELES—George Clooney’s former flame Sarah Larson may have caused jaws to drop when she ate a scorpion on "Fear Factor," but we think Hilary Duff was even more daring by putting the deadly creature down her pants while filming the futuristic flick "War, Inc."
"Everyone made a big deal out of it on the set — not because it was vulgar or in a sexual way — it was more like ‘Oh my God, you are putting a scorpion in your pants!’ The whole place was freaking out," Duff said. "I had the whole crew standing there clapping and being like 'Good job, you did it one more time!' It was really scary and it was a real scorpion."
But unlike so many young stars that seem to cause lots of trouble in Tinseltown, Duff said she stays sane by staying out of the spotlight.
"Everyone thinks I’m so perfect — I’m really not. I am a normal 20-year-old and I do things that normal 20-year-olds do," Duff said. "But I just don't feel like my business and my whole life is the whole world's business.
"I want people to pay attention to my work because I work really hard and I work all the time and my personal life should be my personal life, so I don't necessarily want to go to all the places that I know I'm going to get photographed or I know there are going to be people staring at me," she said.
Speaking of which, Duff was spotted hiding out with her New York Islander beau Mike Comrie at "The Wackness" movie premiere after-party at Whiskey Blue last Tuesday night. We’re told the young lovers didn’t leave each other’s side throughout the entire event and even sat on the dance floor together in order to get some privacy in the packed party.

Hilary Duff joins 'Cool' school

THEHOLLYWOODREPORTER.COM: Hilary Duff has found a way to beat the heat, joining the cast of the new Polish brothers comedy "Stay Cool."
Duff co-stars in "Cool" with Winona Ryder, Mark Polish, Sean Astin, Chevy Chase and Jon Cryer.
The project, which shoots in July in Santa Clarita, Calif., is described as a "knowing-your-age comedy," centering on a successful author (Polish) who is forced to confront an unrequited high school crush (Ryder) when he returns home to deliver a commencement address to graduating seniors.
Duff will portray Shasta O'Neil, a sexy high school senior who flirts with the visiting author and invites him to the prom.
Mark and Michael Polish, who wrote the script, are producing with Jonathan Sheldon, Ken Johnson and Janet DuBois via their new Prohibition Pictures banner. Michael Polish is directing.
Duff, who broke through by becoming a tween superstar via her Disney TV series "Lizzie McGuire," has been slowly moving beyond that audience. She can be seen in the political satire "War, Inc." opposite John Cusack and has films "Safety Glass" and "Greta" in the can. Duff will be back in the studio to work on her fifth album this summer.
She is repped by WMA and Curtis Talent Management.

Hilary Duff Chats About Sexy Role in 'War, Inc.'

NEWSDAY.COM: Say goodbye, Lizzie McGuire, say hello, Eastern European pop tart. Yep, Hilary Duff is all grown up now, a beautiful 20-year old, and in her latest film, "War, Inc.," opening Friday, she makes a big career move. Co-starring with John Cusack and Marisa Tomei, Duff plays Yonica Babyyeah, a foul-mouthed, oversexed and underdressed Central Asian pop singer so outrageous, she makes Madonna look like a nun. It's a role that might shock her clean-as-driven-snow, teeny-bop fan base, but could also jump-start Duff's mature movie career. To find out what Duff was thinking, Lewis Beale caught up with her at the TriBeCa Film Festival, where "War, Inc." had its New York premiere.

John Cusak and Hilary Duff Make War Fun

LA-CONFIDENTIAL-MAGAZINE.COM: If you think there’s little more to Hilary Duff than Lizzie McGuire, think again. In War, Inc., she sexes things up and even manages to channel the guys from Jackass.
When it comes to avant-garde, politically charged movies like War, Inc., the last person you expect to find in the cast is Hilary Duff. At 14 she became an overnight teen sensation thanks to Disney’s superpopular television series Lizzie McGuire. Now 20, she’s been a model all-American teenage entrepreneur, with movies, four albums, and even a fashion line to her credit.
Like any teen star, Duff is eager to break the chains of her wholesome image, but unlike many, she wants to do it without sex scandals or drug binges. Playing the potty-mouthed Eastern European pop star Yonica Babiak in John Cusack’s provocative War, Inc. may be just the way to go about it.
Los Angeles Confidential caught up with Duff to talk about changing her image, filming in Bulgaria, and shoving a live scorpion down her pants.

Hilary Goes to War
IBNLIVE.COM: Duff was at the premiere of her latest movie War Inc at the Tribeca Festival in New York and said that her role in the film takes a serious turn from real life. Known as a good girl, Duff plays a pop star Yonica for this film, and says that she had to visit her dark side."It was a challenge because it's finding a character who is so different from my personal life and how people will perceive me. What was on my mind was that when people see this are they going to freak out? But then I said, this is acting and I am an actor. It was a challenge and I wanted to go for it. Stepping into the whole outfit and the accent made it easy in a way but that part was challenging," says Duff.
War Inc is a dark political satire that also stars Marisa Tomei, Dan Aykroyd and John Cusack who plays a corporate hit man who travels to the embattled country of Turaqistan, to kill a Middle East oil minister.
He poses as a trade show manager and oversees the wedding of a pop singer played by Duff, to get close to his target.
Directed by Joshua Seftel War Inc hits US theatres on May 23.

Hockey Is Hilary Duff's 'New Obsession'

Hilary Duff and boyfriend Mike Comrie
PEOPLE.COM: Hilary Duff can put away her Hockey for Dummies book. She's a full-on fan now, thanks to boyfriend Mike Comrie of the New York Islanders.
"[Hockey] has kind of been a new obsession," Duff told PEOPLE at Monday night's premiere of her new film, War, Inc., at the Cadillac Lounge at Tenjune. "When I'm in New York, I'm going to hockey games a lot."
And Comrie returns the favor.
"He sits through days of press, of me doing interviews, like one after another after another, and doesn't complain about it," said Duff (who stars alongside John Cusack and Marisa Tomei in the offbeat political satire). "He was a good sport today."
The 27-year-old Comrie also joined Duff – wearing a black Dolce & Gabbana dress and Christian Louboutin pumps – at her premiere, part of the Tribeca Film Festival.
"It's fun to get all dressed up," said the 20-year-old. "I feel like I haven't done it in a long time."
After the screening, the two chatted with moviegoers before heading over to Meatpacking District hotspot Tenjune for the after-party.
The too-cute twosome held court in the VIP area with Duff's sister Haylie. But they only had eyes for each other, whispering and sharing brief kisses all evening.

Hilary Duff: Who Am I to Judge Miley Cyrus?

Hilary Duff (left) and Miley Cyrus
PEOPLE.COM: Hilary Duff, who knows better than most what it's like to be in the public eye at a young age, is not passing judgment on Miley Cyrus for the risqu´ photos for Vanity Fair
"Everyone goes through things and takes their own path," Duff said Monday a press event for her new movie War Inc. "Who am I to judge decisions that she made?"
Still, Duff says she would not have chosen the same path for herself. "People are pushing you to do something, and if you want to do it, that's your choice, you know?" added the singer-actress. "It's not what I would choose to do, but if she did then that's fine. That's her choice."
Asked how she has avoided the pitfalls of being a young star, Duff, 20, said she's relied on a strong network. "I've had a lot of help from people," she says. "It's a joint effort with my family and everyone helping me balance my life."
Cyrus, 15, has since expressed regret for the photo, which gives the appearance that she's nude – although she is not. The Hannah Montana star told PEOPLE, "I feel so embarrassed."

Hilary Duff to Star in New 90210?
E! ONLINE: Step aside, Shannen Doherty. Hilary Duff just might be the new face of Beverly Hills, 90210.Sources connected to the series tell me exclusively that producers for the CW's 90210 remake have reached out to Hilary to offer her a starring role in the series.
No word yet on whether she is interested in the role, and at press time, we have not received comment from reps for the CW or Hilary.
According to sources, Hilary's potential character is that of Annie Mills. As I reported last month, Annie is a Beverly Hills High student who is into theater acting, just like her predecessor. But instead of Color Me Badd, she’s listening to emo bands. She yearns to fit in with the alternative crowd and leans a lot on her adopted brother, Dixon, too.
She likes to be on stage, and she's cute as a button...sounds like a perfect match for Hilary, no?
